New Album Out Now!

ASHES is the self-titled album from a dynamic band led by emerging talent Ashley Ballat. This group have cultivated a distinct and analogous language from playing together for the last five years, and bring to life Ballat’s sketches of music whose eclectic musical aesthetic amalgamates elements from the Australian Jazz scene, ECM records, American Free Jazz, Ambient, Folk and hint of Doom Metal.

Together the band coalesce acoustic sounds with electronics to create thick soundscapes full of texture, colour, and mood. They vibrate with energy and push to explore new sounds on their instruments (and anything else that makes a sound within reach). Moving between lamenting melodies, dense fiery fury and sparse, delicately restrained improvisation, this album’s energy is sensitive and unique.
